Maybe your soul is just tired…

Maybe you’re not lazy. Maybe you’re not “too sensitive.” Maybe you’re not failing. Maybe your soul is just tired.

Tired from carrying things you were never meant to carry alone. Tired from constantly pouring into everyone else while running on empty. Tired from trying to keep up with the house, the kids, the responsibilities, the expectations—and somehow still feeling like you should be doing more.

Tired from filling every quiet moment with noise… Scrolling, worrying, comparing, overthinking.

Somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, you got so busy trying to keep everything else together that you stopped tending to your own soul.

I think sometimes we try to fix a spiritual emptiness with worldly distractions. I will be the first to admit I’ve done this…More scrolling. More buying. More validation. More busyness. More people. More something… and somehow we still feel empty.

Maybe what your soul is craving isn’t more…maybe it’s Jesus.

What if you don’t need another distraction; you don’t need to figure everything out tonight?

Maybe you just need to turn the noise down and sit with Him again. Open your Bible. Put on the worship music. Talk to Him while you fold the laundry. Talk to Him while you wash the dishes. Talk to Him sitting in the car before you walk inside. Cry if you need to.

Tell Him what hurts. Tell Him what you’re worried about. Tell Him what you’re tired of carrying.

You don’t have to clean yourself up before you come to Him. You don’t need the perfect words. You don’t need the perfect prayer. You don’t even need to know exactly what’s wrong.

Just come. Come tired. Come overwhelmed. Come distracted. Come with the mess you haven’t figured out yet. Just come back.

Sometimes what feels like needing an escape is actually our soul longing for a place to rest, and the world will offer us a thousand places to look for it—but none of them can give the kind of rest Jesus does.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28 KJV

Maybe tonight you don’t need to try harder. Maybe you just need to remember where your rest comes from. Run back to Jesus. His arms are still open friend.

“Sometimes we spend so much time trying to quiet the chaos around us that we don’t realize our soul has been asking for quiet with God.”

Just remember He will meet you right where you are, you don’t have to wait.
